Haints, Creatures & NPCs – South of Midnight | Character Art Supervision

As Lead Character Artist on South of Midnight, I had the opportunity to supervise the creation of a wide range of Haints, creatures, monsters, and NPCs developed primarily by our external character art partners.

The work shown here is the result of a collaborative production effort. My role was focused on guiding and supporting the outsourced Character Art team: reviewing work in progress, providing artistic and technical feedback, helping maintain consistency across the cast, and making sure each asset stayed aligned with the established visual direction of the game and with the guidance of the Art Director.

While these assets were mainly created by the outsourcing team, I also provided hands-on support and occasional polish when needed, especially on the texturing side for selected characters.

Supervising these characters was a particularly rewarding part of the project, as each creature had to fit within the handcrafted, stop-motion-inspired world of South of Midnight, while also supporting gameplay readability, narrative tone, and the unique visual identity of the game.

Huge credit goes to the talented artists and teams involved in bringing these characters to life and shout out my colleague Chad Emond who refined and textured models as TTT, Young Rhubarb and few Hants.
I’m proud to have contributed through character art supervision, feedback, direction, and production support as part of the Character Art team.
